Toronto Zenith constructed a new grade separation and pumping station to alleviate traffic congestion, prevent flooding on the roadway, and prepare for the future expansion of the CN track and a new Metrolinx station.

Objectives

  • Replace existing railway bridge
  • Construct a new grade separation and multi-lane roadway
  • Build and commission a storm water pumping station, a new water main and a sanitary sewer system
  • Install 9m high shoring wall for track protection
  • Construct new structures while re-routing train and vehicular traffic
  • Manage relationships with businesses and members of the public
  • Integrate new sanitary sewer system while temporarily diverting old system

Key Aspects

  • Constructed a two span CNR railway steel tub girder bridge
  • Built and commissioned a storm water pumping station with a 7m deep wet well
  • Constructed a water main running below Centennial Parkway
  • Provided extensive landscaping, including decorative armour stone
